Social Skills Groups
Social Rules and Manners ~ Understanding Social Cues ~ Social Expectations ~ Social Tolerance
~ Peer Themed Groups ~
~ Therapy Language-Based Social Skills Option ~
In-person social skills and peer themed groups are tailor designed once we have 2 - 4 interested parties with similar needs and ages, as well as attention & behaviors adequate to participate in a small group setting. These non-therapy-based groups (not insurance reimbursable) are $45/ hour session per participant. Social skill groups focus on day-to-day self and social awareness through guided instruction, as well as on social interactive tasks.
Small peer themed groups (art, dance, social writing; possible addition of supplies fee) are coming soon for participants requiring less guided social training. Session facilitators hold an elementary or special education teacher certificate, BA psychology degree, or an occupational therapy license.
If your child is in need of language-based therapy sessions, then a baseline evaluation is required from us, or a recent evaluation report you have for your child can be used if it indicates need for language-based social skills therapy. One hour group therapy sessions are $75 each participant and you can submit an invoice for your out of network coverage. Therapy session facilitator is a state licensed speech-language pathologist.
Parents/caregivers may sit in the hall/lobby with provided chairs and get to know one another.
Payment is requested in advance of each social group segment, typically run for 2 months at a time. Absences are credited; however, a session cannot be held for cancellations or no shows that result in only one child present. For the social respect of the other participants, we ask parents/caregivers to notify us as early as possible so we may reach out to the others in the event of a cancellation. We will contact you for any cancellations on our part due to illness or inclement weather.
For more information, please call so you can provide us with background specific to your child's social skill level.
