Occupational Therapy
Parenting Foundations
Occupational therapists work closely with children and families incorporating a multi-developmental perspective which includes social-emotional, cognitive, and motor skills, as well as sensory processing. Home Therapy Solutions offers two adult-based support classes in order to help parents establish and maintain healthy connections with their children which can lead to healthy social-emotional development, better management of child behaviors, and thriving family environments. The program consists of classes that are offered in a small group format of two to seven participants. The parenting classes are relaxed and educational, however are not intended to take the place of therapy.
Studies indicate that positive parenting with regulated emotional skills
not only correlate to a child's healthy social-emotional development, but
significantly correlates to a child’s cognitive and executive skill development.

Putting the Sensation into Regulation
Intended for parents/caregivers of young children who are always on the move, have poor attention, challenging behaviors, or frequent meltdowns with inability to 'calm down'. Join other parents/caregivers and participate in a small group presentation-driven class introducing key concepts and terminology for parents to help understand sensory processing, levels of sensory regulation, and sensory dysregulated behaviors. By understanding the sensory factor in emotional regulation from an occupational therapist, parents may begin to view their children from a new and informed perspective, while learning sensory strategies that can be used right away.
