Occupational Therapy
Parenting Foundations

Occupational therapists work closely with children and families incorporating a multi-developmental perspective which includes social-emotional and sensory-behavior concerns.  Home Therapy Solutions offers adult-based support classes in order to help parents establish and maintain healthy connections with their children which will lead to healthy social-emotional development, better management of child behaviors, and thriving family environments.  The program consists of classes that are offered in a small group format of two to seven participants.  The format of these classes is presentation driven by the occupational therapist with frequent opportunities for parent interaction and peer support. The parenting classes are relaxed and educational, however are not intended to take the place of therapy if indicated.

           Putting the
Sensation into Regulation

Picture
For parents/caregivers of children who are always on the move, have poor attention, challenging behaviors, or frequent meltdowns with inability to 'calm down'. Join other parents/caregivers and participate in a small group presentation-driven-class  (2 - 7 participants) introducing key concepts and terminology for parents to help understand sensory processing, levels of sensory regulation, and sensory dysregulated behaviors.  By understanding the sensory factor in emotional regulation from an occupational therapist, parents will begin to view their children from a new and informed perspective while learning sensory strategies that can be used right away.

What People are Saying

"Our daughter now participates fully in a world that left her feeling powerless and overwhelmed.  We are deeply grateful to Lori for her creativity, skill, commitment to her clients, and determined belief in our daughter’s ability to succeed.”   J.F., Wayne, NJ

"I appreciate the hard work I had from my OT.  Lori was always prepared with creative exercises and made great suggestions to make my life easier and safer.  She coordinated with my other therapists and reached out to my children.  Once I reached my goals, she set up a routine for me for each day.  I hope I stay healthy, but I will call Lori again if I ever need her."  R.B.
